How to make a referral

Please complete our online referral form or call us directly to discuss suitability. If your client is accepted we can assist with travel arrangements to The Nest.

Referral and Admission Process

Complete the Online Referral Form or Call

You can either fill out the referral form available online or call The Nest directly. Choose the method that is most convenient. If you're calling, have your client's details ready, including medical and personal information as needed.

Suitability Assessment

Upon receipt of your referral, The Nest team will contact your client to conduct a suitability assessment. They will assess whether your client fits the programme’s requirements and provide an overview of the services we offer. We will update you on the outcome of your referral by email or telephone.

Discuss Housing Agreement

If your client is accepted, The Nest team will explain the housing agreement. This outlines the terms and conditions of staying with us.

Travel Arrangements

Once accepted, The Nest will assist with travel arrangements for your client to get to us safely.

Bridging Prescription (If Applicable)

If your client requires a bridging prescription, The Nest team will contact yourselves or the current provider to make arrangements. Ideally this will cover a 4-week period and ensure that your client can transition smoothly to their new treatment plan.

Medical Ambulatory Detox (If Required)

If your client requires a medical detox, The Nest Team will work with Essex STaRS, the local prescribing service, to assess suitability and if appropriate facilitate the process. We will provide staff for awake nights to support during detox.

Overview of Funding Model

Essex Residents

Essex residents are fully funded for their stay at The Nest – we have 4 beds for Essex residents at any one time.

Outside of Essex

The remaining 5 beds are available for referrals from out of Essex – local community drug and alcohol support services usually have funding arrangements to help people into residential support.

Private Funding

If you wish to pay privately for yours or someone else’s residential support the costs are around £14,850 for 90 days. (6 months at The Nest is recommended to complete a full programme of support). Residents may then be accommodated in Next Chapter’s dispersed accommodation if this is felt to be preferable.
Once accepted the referrer will be invoiced for three or six months of support.
Payment must be received prior to admission.
Regular progress reports can be provided to the referrer and these arrangements will be confirmed at the referral and acceptance stage.
